What is Wooden Rod?
Wooden Rod appears by name on creator equipment panels alongside the early shop path. Separate footage prices a 12,000 Coin rod on Starter Island and rods at 35,000 and 90,000 Coins on Jungle Island. Those prices have not been matched to Wooden Rod, Stone Rod, Iron Rod, Golden Rod, Steel Rod, or Diamond Steel Rod, so this page does not assign them.

How do you use Wooden Rod?
Move your skill book onto the new rod before you fish with it. The official description says the book must be detached from the old rod first. Read the in-game warning before you confirm, because some guides say a removed book is destroyed.
